Community Land Trusts (CLTs) help make homeownership possible by allowing Thistle to own the land beneath the home while the homeowner owns the home itself.

About Community Land Trusts

Thistle typically acquires and builds affordable homes and limits the sales price on these homes. However, through the CLT, Thistle owns the land, and qualified people buy the homes. Thistle and the homebuyer sign a 99-year renewable land lease which allows the buyer to use the land.

Thistle's CLT Application Process

Common Application

Both applications should be turned into a Thistle Office upon completion when applying for a Thistle CLT.

Supplement to Common Application

*Thistle only accepts applications when we have a Community Land Trust home or a Mapleton mobile home available for sale.

Mapleton Mobile Home Park Application Process

Mapleton Mobile Home Park is one of the many affordable ownership opportunities Thistle CLT offers throughout Boulder County. At Mapleton, Thistle owns the land and the Mapleton Homeowners Association (MHA) rents the land from Thistle, and oversees a professional management company to manage the Park and to rent the individual homesites to the mobile home owners.
